What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Leather Binding, Rebound

The first edition of this work. A collection of anecdotes compiled by Joseph Spence, arranged with notes by Edmund Malone. A miscellaneous anthology which includes anecdotes mainly collected from Spence's conversations with such eminent people of his time as Alexander Pope, but also including snippets from many others. Lacking the half-title and frontispiece.

Condition

In a half calf binding over marbled boards. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and a minor rubbing to the spine and boards. Evidence of the removal of a bookplate to the front pastedown. The front free endpaper and blank page present a slight creasing. Internally, firmly bound. Occasional light spotting to the odd leaf, otherwise the pages are generally very clean throughout.
