What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding

Hannah More was an English religious writer and philanthropist and leading member of the second generation of the Bluestocking Society, alongside Hester Lynch Piozzi and Frances Burney. Whilst More began her career writing a number of religious dramas, including 'The Inflexible Captive' and 'Percy', she later turned her interests to a series of evangelical prose works, and in the 1790s she wrote several moral, religious and political tracts, as seen within this text. 'Moral Sketches' was More's final didactic work, and arguably the text in which she was at her most conservative and patriotic, championing the politics, religion, and manners of Britain in contrast with those of France, and indeed with the rest of Europe.
