1820 Display A Tale
What Our Customers Say...
Illustrated, Leather Binding
Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. Written by poet and novelist Jane Taylor. Taylor's best known work is the words to the song 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' and although the poem is known worldwide her authorship is generally forgotten. Display has been noted as being reminiscent of Maria Edgeworth's work and was so popular that it went through thirteen editions from its initial publication in 1814 until 1832.
In a full morocco binding with gilt stamping to board edges and to spine. Externally, very smart with some minor rubbing to joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the frontispiece offset to title page. Otherwise, clean throughout.
