Leather Binding

Being Volumes II, III and VI only of this six volume set.

Illustrated, with ten plates to volume III.

Gilbert Burnet was a Scottish philosopher and historian. He was a highly respected cleric, preacher, writer and historian. The work was first published from 1679 to 1681.  

With the bookplate to front pastedown, Revd Edward Grose Smith. 

The overall work follows the reformation from Henry VIII's reign to Elizabeth's reign.

Volume II is a collection of records and original papers. Volume III regards the progress made in it till the settlement of it in the beginning of Queen Elizabeth's reign. Volume VI is another volume of records and original papers. 

Condition

In uniform half calf bindings, with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the spines. A few light marks to spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright. Worming to the bottom margin of volume II from the start to 35.
