Thomas Paine was an English born American Founding Father, political activist and theorist, philosopher. Among his many important works are highly influential pamphlets 'Common Sense' (1776) and 'The American Crisis' (1776-1783), at the start of the American Revolution, and he played an important part on inspiring the Patriots to declare independence from Great Britain in 1776.
