First Edition, Very Scarce
The very scarce first Paris edition of the first two cantos of Lord Byron's satirical epic poem, following the adventures of the Spanish folk legend of Don Juan.
Anonymously authored, with Byron's name not appearing to the title page.
Published in the same year as the true first edition of these two cantos.
With eight pages of publisher's advertisements to the start of the work.
Retaining the original half title, and with a divisional half title between cantos I and II.
With the inscription of D. de la Chirois to the title page head.
A very scarce edition of this work.
Condition
In marbled paper wraps. Wraps significantly age toned, with edgewear to wrap perimeters. Small losses of paper to back strip head and tail. Front wrap tenderly held. Internally, binding a touch tender. Inscription to back strip head. Pages bright, but generally clean, with only the odd spot or handling work.
