Early edition. Scarce work. A collection of sermons influenced by the work of Bishop Porteus, a Church of England reformer and a leading abolitionist in England who was successively appointed Bishop of Chester and of London. Sermons include: the coming of Christ, parable of the Sower, observance of the Sabbath, on obedience to lawful authority and established government, and many more. Collected and adapted by Thomas Baker, prebendary of Chichester.

Condition

Bound in full calf with marbled edges and endpapers. Externally, very smart with light bumping to the extremities and minor rubbing to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot.
