Contains essays on: drama, kissing hands, plagiarism, romances, theological style, and virginity. Volume III, 1817. First release of a third volumes, sixth edition. Contains essays on: pantomimical characters, songs for the people, licensers of the press, drinking customs in England, and the secret history of Charles I.
Condition
Bound in full sprinkled calf binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities. Joints starting but firm to all volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the title page of volume one and two. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Bookseller's label to front pastedown of volume three.
