Two Byron historical poems together in a custom chemise, in a fine condition and slipcase, in a fine condition.
'The Siege of Corinth', the second edition, published in the same year as the first. A rhymed tragic narrative poem for which Byron was inspired by the 1715 Ottoman massacre of the Venetian garrison holding the Acrocorinth. Four pages of adverts to the rear.
'The Prisoner of Chillon', the first edition, first issue, with recto of leaf E8 blank and five pages of adverts to the rear dated November 1816, including Murray's list of Byron's works. This narrative poem chronicles the four year imprisonment of Francois Bonivard, a Genevois monk, from 1532 to 1536.
Byron was inspired for 'The Prisoner of Chillon' when sailing on Lake Geneva with Percy Bysshe Shelley, on their infamous trip that birthed 'Frankenstein'. Byron and Percy visited the Chateau du Chillon.

Condition
In the original paper wraps, with a custom cloth chemise and custom cloth slipcase. Externally, wraps are lightly edge wear, with a little loss to the spines, heavier to 'Corinth'. Some discolouration and a few minor marks to the wraps. Internally, 'Corinth' is generally firmly bound, 'Chillon' is firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few light spots. Chemise is smart, in a fine condition. Slipcase is a little faded to the spine, with a little lifting to the head, in a near fine condition.
