Description
Leather Binding, Very Scarce
This work is in half calf binding with marbled boards. This is the first English translation, with the original work being written in French. This translation is by Edmund Boyce.
This is a historical work which describes the military campaigns of Paris in 1814 and 1815, as well as the previous campaign in 1813 and the dethronement of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The 1814 campaign was Napoleon's final campaign of the War of the Sixth Coalition. Though he was victorious at Leipzig in 1813, the campaign was defeated as the Coalition was advancing towards Paris and Napoleon was unable to defend it. When he then proposed that the army march on Paris, his Marshals decided to unanimously overrule him to save Paris from further destruction.
This work covers these events, including The Waterloo Campaign in 1815, where the French army fought and defeated by the Anglo-allied army and the Prussian army. There is a focus on the 15th-18th June, 1815, with a history of the termination of Napoleon Bonaparte's political life.
Contents include a translator's and author's preface and information on the Campaigns of 1814 and 1815.
