Leather Binding

It is believed that 'John Mathers' is a pseudonym, and this work is frequently attributed to George Colman the younger. Colman was a popular dramatist and miscellaneous writer. However, now it is debated who the true author of this work is. 

Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front pastedown to volumes I and II, J B Hughes. 

In half morocco bindings. 

Volume II retains a half title only. Volumes I, III and IV all have full title pages and no half-title pages. 

A very scarce novel, which is seldom found on the market.

Condition

In half morocco bindings, with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart, with patches of light rubbing to the boards and spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light scattered spots to pages. Prior owner's inscription to the front pastedowns.
