The sixth edition of this guide to farming from Henry Homes, Lord Kames. First published in 1776, this sixth and final edition features a one hundred page supplement to the rear, updating Kames' work to 1815.

Illustrated with three plates. Collated, complete.

Over the course of seventeen chapters, Homes discusses husbandry, cattle, grass, crop rotation and soil fertility, alongside a range of further topics.

With the bookplate of the University of Aberdeen to the front pastedown, and their stamp to the front free endpaper, half title, title page, and a small number of further leaves.

With three plates of advertisements to the rear.

A fascinating and detailed insight into early nineteenth century farming practices.

Condition

Rebacked, in a full calf binding with original boards restored and endpapers renewed. Rubbing to board perimeters, resulting in small losses to leather. Library stickers to back strip head and tail. Library bookplate to front pastedown. Stamp to front free endpaper, half title, title page, and a small number of further leaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd annotation.
