What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding
Bound in half leather with gilt lettering and spine decoration. This copy has been professionally rebacked, with the original spine laid down. With twenty-seven illustrative plates and frontispiece of the author. With a Life of the Author. This is the life of John Collier, not a fictionalised account of Tim Bobbin. John Collier, 1708-1786, was a satirist and caricaturist. His motto was apparently 'Laugh, and be fat', which he lived up to heartily.
Condition
The binding is tight and firm. There is slight edge wear to the extremities. Internally the pages have some browning with foxing only prominent to the first and last pages and the plates as usual. There are a few faded tidemarks to some plates.
