Description

Leather Binding, Rebound

A highly influential work on economics, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, was originally published in 1776. This work offers one of the very first collected descriptions of what contributes to the wealth of nations, and alludes to themes like the division of labour, productivity, and free markets, hugely reflective of the emergence of the Industrial Revolution.

The magnum opus of Scottish economist and philosopher Adam Smith, a leading figure in the Scottish Enlightenment.

The Wealth of Nations was formed of almost two decades of notes by Smith, his earlier works and an observation of conversations among economists at the time. It took Smith almost a decade to write.

Complete in three volumes, and bound in contemporary calf.

A new edition of this work, which includes a brief biography of the author and a view of his doctrine compared to that of French economists.

Lacking half titles.

Containing an ink signature of a previous owner to the front pastedown of each volume, undated.
