Leather Binding

With the bookplate of Thomas Barnewall to the front pastedown.  Most likely the bookplate of Thomas Barnewall the 16th Baron Trimlestown. 

Illustrated, with an engraved frontispiece and title page.

'Joseph Andrews' was defined by Fielding as a 'comic epic poem in prose' and tells the story of a footman's adventures on the road home from London with his friend and mentor, Abraham Adams. 

Condition

In a marbled calf binding. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the joints and to the extremities. Small loss to the leather at the head and tail of spine. Front hinge is strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
