A collection of historical and narrative poems by the London bookseller Thomas Evans.
Containing the poems, 'Country Lass', 'The Constancy of Susanna', 'Stout Cripple of Cornwall', 'Musidorus and Amadine', and more.
Volume I contains eighty-eight poems, Volume II contains fifty-eight poems, Volume III contains seventy-six poems, and Volume IV contains sixty-one poems.
Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and a vignette title page.
Volumes II, III, and IV are illustrated with a vignette title page.
Evans had a bookshop on the Strand, London.
Edited by his son, Robert Harding Evans, who was also a bookseller, and an auctioneer.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities with a small amount of loss to the head of the spines of Volumes I, III, and IV. Light marks to the boards and spines. A little fading to the head of the front board of Volume IV. Front joint and head of the rear joint of Volume I are a little cracked. Small crack to the head of the rear joint of Volume III. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some odd spots and handling marks. A couple of pencil annotations.
