Illustrated, Leather Binding, Rebound

A New Edition copy, revised and enlarged by the author's son, Robert Harding Evans, a notable English bookseller and auctioneer. With a frontispiece to volume I, and illustrated vignette to each title page. In a half polished calf binding with marbled paper boards, and attractive marbled textblock and endpapers.

Condition

In a half polished calf binding with marbled paper boards, textblock and endpapers. Externally slightly bumped and rubbed to extremities and head and tail of spine. Slight rubbing to joints. Fading to spine. Slight rubbing to raised bands of spine. Front joint split to tail, volume III-IV. Hingles slightly strained but firm, split in places to front joint, both volumes. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned but very clean, with the odd spot, heavier to first and last few pages. Small ink mark to frontispiece and title page, volume I-II. The odd faint handling mark to the occasional page.
