Description

Very Scarce

Tear with substantial loss to the title page, meaning the title is partially obscured. Title taken from the spine. Despite the damage to the title page, the volume remains a charming example of the literary talents of the 18th century poet and author, Tobias Smollett. Tobias Smollett was a Scottish poet and author. His best known novels include The Adventures of Roderick Random and The Expedition of Humphry Clinker. Known prodominantly for his prose and poetry, the work offers an example of Smollett's theatrical work, the tragic play, The Regicide. The play itself was never performed on-stage.

Condition

In a half cloth binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, sound. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities. Tidemark to the front board. The odd mark to the front and rear board. Light marks to the front and rear pastedown. Front and rear endpapers are lacking. Large tear to the title page causing loss. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with light age toning. Heavy offsetting to the first and last pages.
