What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding
A new edition, complete in two volumes.
First published in 1773, Vieyra was a professor of Italian and Portuguese in London, and later became Regis Professor of Spanish at the University of Dublin. In the same period, he authored a useful Portuguese Grammar.
Consisting of Part I, wherein Portuguese words are provided - 'properly accented to facilitate the pronunciation of the learner' - alongside their English meaning, and Part II, in which English words are provided, and their definitions supplied in Portuguese.
With the label of a Lisbon based bookseller to the front pastedown of volume I.
A smart copy of this impressive early nineteenth century English-Portuguese dictionary.
