By Charles Bell, a Scottish surgeon and anatomist, known for discovering the difference between sensory nerves and motor nerves. He also described Bell's palsy.

Typed list tipped in to the front paste down of Volume I. Handwritten presentation letter to C. Naughton Morgan to the recto to the front endpaper of Volume I, from C. Rutherford Morrison. Label of 'Oakfield' to the front paste down of Volume II.

Half-title present to Volume I.

Twenty pages of publisher's adverts to the rear of Volume II.

Condition

In a full calf binding, rebacked with the original boards restored. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing and marks to the boards and spines. Small crack to the head of the front joint of Volume II. Light bumping to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Tidemark to the front endpaper of Volume II. Typed list tipped in to the front paste down of Volume I. Handwritten presentation letter to the recto to the front endpaper of Volume I. Label of 'Oakfield' to the front paste down of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned with some spots.
