The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Stamp from The Lawes Agricultural Trust to the front paste downs. The Lawes Agricultural Trust was established in 1889 by Sir John Bennet Lawes, and supports Rothamsted Research’s agricultural scientific research. Folding plan to the front of the volume, and 29 diagrams accompanying the text. Collated complete. William Marshall (1745–1818) was an English writer on agriculture, and an advocate of the establishment of a state-sponsored body to promote the improvement of farming standards. He published six studies on the farming practices in England from 1788 to 1798, which remain important historical resources on English agriculture. In this volume he offers a general guide (an abstract of the enlarged Treatise on Landed Property) to buying, managing and improving a landed estate, with particular focus on farming.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with very faint fading to the upper extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for some offsetting to the free end papers, and to the folding plan. Loss to the corner of page xi, not affecting the text.
