First Edition, Illustrated, Very Scarce
The first edition of this work in the original pictorial paper boards. Illustrated with 7 plates, 6 full page diagrams and further diagrams accompanying the text. Collated complete. A scarce 19th century guide to land surveying in six parts by land surveyor and mathematician J. Cotes. This guide includes information on implements, and using these implements, for land surveying, and then how to create a plan. 6 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the original pictorial paper boards. Externally, bumped and worn to the boards and extremities, but most of the lettering to the front board is still legible. Some lettering lost to the rear board. Significant losses to the backstrip. Front hinge is splitting but still reasonably firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are roughly cut, and a little soiled and age toned to the page perimeters, but they are all intact. Occasional small stains, not affecting the text. Loss to the rear free end paper.
