A new edition, complete in ten volumes. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece to Volume I. Collated, complete. 

Henry Fielding was an eighteenth century English novelist best known for his earthy humour and satire, and remembered for Tom Jones (1749). Alongside Samuel Richardson, he is considered one of the founding fathers of traditional English novels. 

Prior owner's book plates to the first pastedowns of each volume. Prior owner's ink inscription from 1888 to the first free endpaper of Volume I. From the library of Alexander Trotter. 

The hinges of all volumes have been strengthened.

Condition

In a rebacked calf binding. Externally, smart. There is rubbing to the heads and tails of the spines and bumping to the extremities. There is some wear in these areas. The hinges of all volumes have been strengthened, and in most cases are strained but firm. Prior owner's book plates to the first pastedowns of each volume. Prior owner's ink inscription from 1888 to the first free endpaper of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean, with some light spotting throughout and heavier spotting to the endpapers and first few pages.
