An uncommon work.

Complete in three volumes.

Volume I is the third edition, Volume II is the second edition , Volume III is the first edition.

An extensive treatise on the strictures in the urethra and esophagus, an important work on diseases common in women.

This is an early work on the study of gynaecology, written during a flourishing of discovery and information on the subject. 

Volume I illustrated with a folding plate, and two plates.

Volume II illustrated with one plate.

Volume III illustrated with seven folding plates.

Collated, all plates are present.

By Everard Home, a surgeon who is known for being the first to describe a fossil creature, Ichthyosaur, discovered by Mary Anning in Lyme Regis.

Half-title present to Volumes II and III. Volume I is bound without the half-title.

Condition

In paper covered boards, rebacked with the original boards restored, with new endpapers. Externally, generally smart, with some light marks to the boards and spines. Minor bumping to the extremities. A little light rubbing to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spotting. Faded stamp to the title pages and to a few other pages of text. Ink note to the text of the title page of Volumes I and II. Small chip to the margin of the preface page of Volume II, no loss of text.
