A collection of the works of the prolific English poet Alexander Pope, including his influential translations of Homer's 'Iliad' and 'Odyssey'.
Pope is generally considered to be the greatest English poet on his age, for his satirical works, and for his translations of the works of the likes of Homer. He also wrote for 'The Spectator'.
Including his best known works 'The Dunciad' and 'The Rape of the Lock'.
'The Rape of the Lock' is a mock-heroic narrative poem which satirises a small incident by comparing it to the epic world of the gods. The poem was heavily inspired by Arabella Fermor, and her suitor, and this poem immortalised Arabella's beauty.
'The Dunciad' is another mock-heroic narrative poem, celebrating a goddess Dulness. The poem follows the goddess as sent her agents to bring decay, tastelessness, and imbecility to Great Britain.
Also including a life of Pope.
Collated, boung without half-titles.
