Nine volumes of ten. Volume I is dated 1807, printed by T. Davison for Peter Wynne and Son and contains: The Life of Shakspeare; Observations on Each Play; The Tempest; Two Gentlemen of Verona; Merry Wives of Windsor; Twelfth Night and Measure for Measure. Volumes II, III and IV are dated 1803 and printed by T. Bensley for Wynne and Scholey and J. Wallis and contain: Much Ado About Nothing, Midsummer Nights Dream, Love's Labour's Lost, Merchant of Venice and As You Like It; All's Well That Ends Well, Taming of the Shrew, Winter's Tale, Comedy of Errors and Macbeth; King John; King Richard II, King Henry IV Parts I and II and King Henry V. Volumes V-VIII are dated 1804 and printed by T. Bensley for Wynne and Scholey and J. Wallis and contain: King Henry VI Parts I, II and III and King Richard III; King Henry VIII, Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens and Coriolanus; Julius Caesar, Anthony and Cleopatra; Cymbeline; Titus Andronicus and Pericles; King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Othello. Volume X is dated 1805, printed by T. Bensley for James Wallis and is 'illustrated by the prefaces and annotations of the various commentators and contains: Annotations on all thirty-seven plays listed above with a contents page to front. Previous owner's bookplates to front pastedowns.

Condition

In cloth bindings. Externally, generally smart but with slight wear to extremities and marks to boards and spines and numbers annotated to rear board of volume one. Internally, generally firmly bound. Bright and generally clean throughout but with the odd spot and handling marks, in particular to text block edge.
