Written by William Somervile, an English poet. His other poems include 'The Two Springs', 'Hobbinol', and 'Field Sports'.
Illustrated by Thomas Bewick. Bewick is a renowned wood-engraver and author on natural history.
Bookplate of John Greenhill Esq to the front pastedown. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the front pastedown.
Condition
In a full marbled calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with a little rubbing to the boards and spine. A little loss to the head and tail of the spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Light surface cracks to the spine. Small cracks to the head and tail of the joints. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscriptions and bookplate to the front pastedown. Small tidemarks to the pastedowns and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some odd spots.
