Frances Burney was an eighteenth and nineteenth century novelist, diarist and playwright, who typically wrote satirical works.
After her first novel, Evelina, she published this work in 1782 after its immediate success and fame. This novel was highly regarded at the time among contemporaries and peers, for instance, the title of Jane Austin's 'Pride and Prejudice' was inspired by the final pages of Cecilia.
In Volume III, pages 203-206 and 299-302 are detached.
Condition
In an original binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. The spine labels are slightly faded. Internally, generally firmly bound. In Volume III, pages 203-206 and 299-302 are detached. The pages are bright and generally clean with some light spots throughout.
