First Edition, Leather Binding, Uncommon

A first edition of Thomas Gisborne's sermons. With twenty sermons to each volume, including addresses on happiness, pride, salvation, and the sins of the tongue. Prior owner's initials to the verso of the front endpaper of volume II. With a page of publisher's adverts to the rear of volume I. With two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear of volume II.

Condition

In a contemporary full brown calf binding. Externally, smart. A little rubbed to the boards, with a scuff to the to front board of volume I near the extremity. A little worn to the joints and the head and tail of the spine, with a tiny slither of lost at the head of volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from the odd bit of marginalia in pencil to the contents pages, pages are bright and clean throughout.
