Description

Illustrated

Written by Clement Cruttwell (1743-1808), an English compiler of gazetteers. Born in Wokingham, Cruttwell was first a surgeon, before turning to compiling religious works. He published a Bible and an autobiography in 1785. His later works were 'Gazetteer of France' and 'Gazetteer of the Netherlands', followed by his 'Universal Gazetteer', which was an immediate best-seller.

In seven volumes.

Each volume has an illustrated title page.

The plates from this work have been bound in a separate volume, containing one hundred and twenty-seven plates. Unfortunately, lacking the two folding plates, but with all illustrations present. Collated.

Bound in lovely tooled cloth.

A smart copy of this topographical work covering Britain.

Condition

In a full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with a little wear to the boards and the spine, with some wear to the volume containing the plates. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with just the odd spot.
