William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863) was a renowned British author and illustrator, best known for his satirical works, particularly his 1848 novel Vanity Fair. This is the Oxford Thackeray edition of his works in seventeen volumes. Each volume is edited and introduced by George Saintsbury, and contains numerous illustrations.

This set includes:

Volume II, 1837-45: The Paris Sketch Book and Art Criticisms.

Condition

In full limp morocco. Externally smart, with light shelf wear to the rear board and extremities. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine remain bright. Light wear to the front boards of Vol I, IX and XV. Stains to the rear board of Vol IV and to the front of Vol XII. Faint marks to the boards of Vol X. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot. Faint stains to the upper extremities of the front free end paper to page 266 of Vol XII.
