This work closely examines the history of British numismatics, starting with the Norman conquest until the end of the eighteenth century.

Stephen Martin Leake (1702-1773) was a British numismatist. He was a fellow of the Scoeity of Antiquaries of London. His other works include an essay regarding the history of English coinage, 'Nummi Britannici Historia'.

A third edition of this popular work.

Illustrated with thirteen copper plates, as well as tables regarding gold and silver coins. Collated, complete.

A smart example of an early numismatic history.

Condition

In a full tree calf binding. Externally very smart, with just a little bumping to the extremities and rubbing to the spine. Two of the illustrated coins have been coloured in as photographed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages have a few spots, but are bright otherwise.
