1792 Anna St. Ives: A Novel
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce
The very scarce first edition of this work, by English dramatist, poet and translator Thomas Holcroft, best known for the help he gave Thomas Paine in publishing 'The Rights of Man', and his sympathy for the French Revolution.
Viewed as the first Jacobin novel, it is viewed as a sentimental and feminist novel, concerning the difficulties of Anna St. Ives, the enlightened daughter of a traditionally-minded landowner, who must choose between two suitors.
