This work was published anonymously, but the author is known as John Almon. Almon was a journalist and political writer. He was responsible for securing the right to publish reports on debates in Parliament. His work 'A Review of Mr Pitt's Administration' was popular with the opposition. 

William Pitt the Elder was a British Statesman of the Whig group. He was Prime Minister in the middle of the eighteenth century. This work gives an account of Pitt's life and career.

In this year several editions of this work were published, including a two volume set.

Condition

In half calf bindings, with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart with light rubbing to the spines and paper covered boards. Small loss to the edges of spine labels. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown of all volumes. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spots to pages, heavier to the first and last few pages.
