Colour Plates, Fine Binding, Illustrated

This volumes comprises of four works bound as one. The main work to this volume is Volume I of E Donovan's 'The Natural History of British Insects'. This work has the first twenty four plates and plate descriptions from Donovan's work.  Following from this, are two excerpts from 'Curtis' Botanical Magazine'. There are pages 709-714 (and six plates) of volume XIX to XX and pages 2392-2397 (and six plates) of 'Curtis' Botanical Magazine' volume I. Following this is pages 2-32 of 'Hints on Criticism' by Philo, which contains five plates. 


'Curtis' Botanical Magazine' volume XIX excerpt is from the 1804 edition, 'Curtis' Botanical Magazine' volume I excerpt is from 1823. 

Forty one plates to this work total.

A fascinating collection of natural history works.

Condition

In a charming half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Tape repair to the rear of plate 'Old Age' to 'Hints on Criticism'. Scattered spots to pages.
