Two bright volumes of this uncommon work. 

John Aikin was an English medical doctor and surgeon. He contributed to many periodicals and magazines.

Comprising a medical dictionary which is a list of ingredients used for medicine during the eighteenth century. Under each heading there are short entries on the pharmaceutic properties and medicinal powers of each item. Examples include the Iris, Lettuce, honey, mint and tobacco.

Condition

In contemporary full calf bindings. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the boards and spine. Small loss to the head of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Spotting to the endpapers and the odd light spots.
