A vividly descriptive travel work of the late eighteenth century, detailing a voyage from Gibraltar to various places in Morocco.

By William Lempriere, a surgeon at Gibraltar who was sent for by the Emperor of Morocco to give his medical attention to the Emperor's favourite son, due to the belief that Christian physicians, such as Lempriere, were able to cure any disease.

Lempriere left Gibraltar on the 14th September 1789, safely arriving in Morocco and tending to the sick. Europeans were seldom allowed into the harem, so Lempriere's admittance with them and experiences were unique, being invited to tend to the ladies of the sultan's harem.
