William Marshall (1845-1818) published six studies on the farming practices of different regions of England from 1788 to 1798, which remain important historical resources on English agriculture. This is the instalment on agricultural practices of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and North Wiltshire. Volume I describes the topography of Gloucestershire and includes information on the cultivation of crops; hiring of staff; animal husbandry; and farming implements and buildings of this county. Volume II includes similar information regarding the Cotswold Hills and the vale of Berkeley; and then tackles the dairy management of North Wiltshire and the orchard management of Herefordshire. 4 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of Volume I and 7 page of publisher's advertisements to the rear of Volume II.
