Incomplete in six volumes, being volumes II-VII of a total of VII volumes. In the original French. With half-title to each volume. Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume. A new edition of this work. The collected works of Jacques Cazotte. This collection includes his poetry, 'Le Lord Impromptu', fables, and more. Cazotte was a French author, known for his fantastical children's fairy tales, such as 'La Patte du Chat'. He first found success with a poem titled 'Ollivier', and by the romance 'Lord Impromptu', which is included in this work. He is said to have possessed extreme facility in his writing, and also declared himself possessed with the power of prophecy. He was arrested during the French Revolution due to the discovery of his counter-revolutionary letters, and was executed by guillotine.
In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Loss to some of the boards, heavier to the front board of Volume IV. Light bumping to the extremities. Small amount of loss to the head of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots. Tidemarks to Volume V.
