The Dictionnaire de l'Academie Francaise remains the official dictionary of the French language. The first preliminary edition was released in 1687, with the first full edition released in 1694. It has since run to eight editions, with the ninth edition still in progress.

Complete in two volumes.
With charming gilt tooling to the spines.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, rather worn, with the spines rubbed resulting in some loss at the head and tail and a few holes to the spine. Hinges are rubbed. Boards are also rather worn, with bumping to the extremities. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown and contemporary annotations to the front pastedown and rear endpaper of the first volume, as well as to the bottom of a few leaves. Internally, firmly bound, with straining to the hinges, which remain firm; in particular, the front hinge of the second volume is strained. Some bookworm damage, in particular to volume II. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot.
