The scarce first edition. In a full morocco binding. The front board is detached but present. The memoirs of the life, religious experiences and labours in the gospel of James Gough. Compiled from his original manuscripts, by his brother, John Gough. James Gough was a notable Irish Quaker and schoolmaster, with a deep interest in religion. His brother John Gough is best known for his historical work on the British Quaker group, 'Society of Friends'. With the previous owner's ink signatures to the front free endpaper. Condition
In a full morocco binding. Externally, sound. Front board is detached but present. Rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards and spine. Rear joint is weak but still attached. Small amount of loss to the spine. Offsetting and age-toning to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Previous owner's ink signatures to the front free endpaper. Small closed tear to the rear free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but generally bright and clean. Scattered handling marks throughout. Heavier mark to page 22. The odd spot throughout.
