What Our Customers Say...
Description
Early Edition, Rebound, Very Scarce
An early edition of this work, rebound in a cloth binding with renewed end papers. Granville Sharp (1735-1813) was one of the first British campaigners for the abolition of the slave trade. He also involved himself in trying to correct other social injustices. This volume contains his essay: 'Equitable representation necessary to the establishment of law, peace, and good government', which remarks upon the need to reform the inequality of representatives for boroughs as opposed to those for counties and cities. It also contains his essay: 'Annual parliaments, the ancient and most salutary right of the Commons of Great-Britain, being an extract from Sharp's Declaration of the people's natural right to a share in the legislature' in which he emphasises the need for an annual election of representatives. Each tract has its own title page.
