Leather Binding

In two volumes complete. A new edition, carefully revised and corrected with additional notes and references to modern cases concerning pleas of the crown. Together with an abridgement of the statutes concerning felonies which have been enacted since the first publication of this work, by George Wilson, Sergeant at Law. With an extract printed to frontispiece from the Journal of the House of Commons, dated 29th November 1680 'Ordered that the Executors of Sir Matthew Hale, late Lord Chief Justice of the court of the King's Bench, be desired to print the MSS. relating to the Crown-law; and that a Committee be appointed to take care in printing thereof...' With receipt from previous purchase dated 1970 inserted.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, sound but with bumping and wear to extremities. With marks to boards and some staining to rear board and spine of first volume. With slight loss to head of spines. Joints starting very slightly. Front hinges strained. Internally, generally firmly bound but endpapers loosening to first volume. Generally bright and clean but with some off-setting from binding and the odd spot to first and last few pages.
