First published privately between 1765 and 1770, this is a sentimental novel following Harry Clinton as he is educated by his benevolent uncle, who introduces him to enlightened principles.

Written by Henry Brooke (1703-1783), an Irish novelist. This was the most successful of his works, with his other works including novel 'Juliet Grenville' and the 'Earl of Essex'.

Scarcely found with all five volumes present.

Each volume is illustrated with a full frontispiece.

A charming copy of this work.

Condition

In a full tree calf binding. Externally generally smart; a little rubbing to the head and tails of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with just the odd spot.
