First published in 1759, in this work Robertson discusses the reigns of both Mary Queen of Scots and King James VI. The works conclude with the ascension of James to the English throne.

Written by William Robertson, a Scottish historian, who is well known for his works on Scottish history.

With the bookplate of T & M James to each front pastedown. With the contemporary owner's inscription of Catherine Wakeley - alongside the former owner's inscription of T.E.J - to a front blank of each volume.

In attractive full calf bindings.

Condition

In full calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Rubbing and minor losses of leather to back strip head and tail. Head of front joint of volume I and rear joint of volume II starting, with boards firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedowns, inscription to a front blank of each volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
