With plates only, and no title page.

Collated, illustrated with 175 engraved plates, numbered I to CLXXVII, four of which are folding, and all of which are the work of draughtsman and architect John Carter. Lacking plates 41 and 165.

These impressively detailed plates are taken from 'The Builder’s Magazine: or Monthly Companion', a construction periodical that was published in monthly parts between 1774 and 1778.

Over the course of the publication of 'The Builder's Magazine', 185 plates by Carter were published, with 175 of those plates present in this work.

An excellent reference work demonstrating the draughtsmanship of the late eighteenth century.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, fine. Exceptionally bright. Endpapers renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned tp perimeters, with the odd instance of light spotting, most concentrated to first and last few leaves. Light tide marks to margins of plates 96, 97 and 98.
