The collected works of Alexander Pope in nine volumes. ESTC T5450. An beautiful complete set in uniform full tree calf bindings with  'Lt. Col. Harnage' gilt embossing to front boards. 

Warburton edition, originally published in 1751. With the latest corrections and revisions, brought together by Pope before his death, finished and published with the help of his friend William Warburton who contributed extensive critical notes. With uniform title page to vol. I as well as individual title pages to each volume. 

Collated, complete with twenty four engraved plates.

Comprising his juvenile poems, translations and imitations, moral essays, satires, 'Dunciad' in four books, miscellaneous pieces, letters, &c. 

Gift inscription to recto dedication page 'To Captain Harnage as a memento of Colonel and Mrs Harnage from Jane Harnage" dated 1835.

Condition

Re-backed in uniform full calf bindings from the library of Lt Col. Harnage, with his name embossed to front boards; titles in gilt on red morocco spine labels, five raised bands, gilt to gauffered edges, lightly rubbed. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly bumped to extremities. Previous ownership ink inscription to front free endpaper dated 1955. Gift inscription to recto dedication page dated 1835. Internally, firmly bound. Odd spotting to odd leaf, otherwise pages generally bright and clean.
