First three volumes of five. A study into the history of European settlements in the East Indies, South America, the West Indies, and North America with specific reference to philosophical challenges, political disruption and commerce. Written by Guillaume Thomas Francois Raynal, was a French writer and man of letters during the Age of Enlightenment. This work was produced in collaboration with Diderot, Pechméja, Baron d'Holbach, Paulze, the farmer-general of taxes, the Abbé Martin, and Alexandre Deleyre.

Condition

Rebound in full calf with marbled endpapers and edges. Externally, sound with bumping and rubbing to the extremities. A small crack to the spine of volume two. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light spotting and age toning to the first and last few pages.
