With a great Variety of Astronomical and Geographical Problems' Collated: Complete, with 14 plates including a frontispiece. George Adams was an English instrument maker and science writer. The mathematical instrument maker to George III, Adams was world renowned as a maker of globes. 'A Treatise Describing the Construction and Explaining the Use of New Celestial and Terrestrial Globes' was Adams' most famous work, covering the basic scientific principles of astronomy and navigation. The work itself passed through thirty editions before 1810. This is the second edition, expanded to include a comprehensive view of the Solar System as understood at the time, as well as further uses for Globes.

Condition

Rebacked in a full calf binding with original covers laid down, preserving the majority of the calf. Externally, smart with bumping and marks. Ink signatures of previous owners to the front pastedown and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright with occasional spotting and handling marks. Some tidemarks to first 30 pages. Slight marginal loss to first 12 pages. Not affecting text. Plates generally clean.
