Musschenbroek/Mussenbroek was a pioneering physicist who wrote in many disciplines and was one of the first scientists to provide descriptions of testing machines for tension, compression and flexure testing. He extensively studied Isaac Newton and developed many of his own hypotheses based on the lectures and writings of Newton. This is a guidebook to Musschenbroek's own experiments and shows the influence of Newton, Galileo, Torricelli, Huygens and many others.

The plates remain extremely bright and in a lovely condition.

An important work in the history of physics.
